What are Fanfilcon A contact lenses?
Fanfilcon A material is a silicone hydrogel-based lens material, designed to offer a more comfortable wearing experience and to keep the eyes of the contact lens wearer feeling healthy and fresh. These soft, flexible lenses are ‘hydrophilic’, meaning they’re exceptionally absorbent and retain water, enhancing levels of wettability and comfort. This feature also ensures that the lens material fits each eye securely while guaranteeing constant hydration for extended periods.
In fact, the lens itself is made up of 45% Fanfilcon A material, with a remaining water content of 55%, notably high for a monthly wearing pattern. Fanfilcon A monthly contacts also have a high oxygen permeability (110 Dk/t), allowing for a constant flow of oxygen to reach the cornea, reducing the symptoms associated with dry eye syndrome and corneal sensitivity. Additionally, a Class 1 filter is built into each lens for UV protection, blocking more than 90% of UVA rays and more than 99% of UVB rays.
